EMPOWERING GRADUATES THROUGH REAL-WORLD EXPOSURE
The Lephalale TVET College Internship Programme is designed to offer unemployed graduates a chance to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. Open to National Diploma or N6 Certificate holders in fields such as Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Management Assistant, and Business Management, the programme targets youth eager to transition from academic knowledge to practical skills.
Interns are placed in various departments within the college, including finance, human resources, administration, and student support services. They are mentored by experienced staff members and benefit from structured learning paths that align with their field of study.
ETDP SETA: THE POWER BEHIND THE PROGRAMME
The Education, Training and Development Practices SETA is a public entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training that focuses on skills development within the education sector. By funding internships like the one at Lephalale TVET College, ETDP SETA ensures that graduates from TVET colleges are not left behind in South Africa’s employment and skills ecosystem.
This partnership not only helps reduce youth unemployment but also strengthens institutional capacity, ensuring TVET colleges remain responsive to both community and industry needs.
INTERNSHIPS ARE REQUIRED IN THE FOLLOWING FIELDS:
- Office Administration
- Management Assistant
- Public Management
- Information Technology
- Health and Safety Management
STIPEND AND SUPPORT:
Successful interns in the Lephalale TVET College programme receive a monthly stipend, typically ranging from R3,500 to R6,500 depending on the funding allocation. This helps cover transport, food, and other job-seeking expenses—reducing the financial burden on unemployed graduates.
- National Certificate Vocational – R3500 Per Month
- Diploma/ Advanced Certificate/ Occupational Certificate – R5000 Per Month
- Degree Advanced Diploma – R6500 Per Month
The programme typically runs for 24 months, during which interns are required to maintain attendance, complete learning tasks, and participate in evaluations that assess their progress.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCESS
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35
- Hold a relevant N6 Certificate or National Diploma
- Be currently unemployed and not participating in any other internship or learnership
- Have completed theoretical training and be in need of in-service training for qualification completion
