The Gauteng Office of the Premier is once again opening its doors to empower unemployed graduates with workplace exposure through its prestigious Internship Programme. This initiative is designed to give young South Africans the opportunity to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional experience, while contributing to the provincial government’s efforts to deliver on its service mandate.

Purpose of the Internship Programme

The Internship Programme forms part of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s broader skills development agenda, aimed at tackling unemployment among youth. By equipping graduates with practical skills, the programme enhances their employability and prepares them for future opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Interns are placed in different units within the Office of the Premier, where they gain valuable hands-on experience while being mentored by seasoned professionals.

Interns gain exposure to the inner workings of the provincial government, learning about policy development, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery. Beyond work experience, interns develop professional networks and build confidence to take on future leadership roles. Many graduates of the programme have successfully transitioned into permanent roles within government or have secured positions in other sectors using the skills acquired.

  • The Gautengonline job application system is down almost half the time when the advert is open. Our children couldn’t apply for the Gauteng OOP Internship programmes because the Application System was down or couldn’t handle the traffic the whole of this week from 01 Sept 2025.
