Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to protect lives and property by responding to fires, emergencies, rescue incidents, and medical emergencies within the municipality.
Under supervision, you will assist with:
- Fire suppression
- Emergency rescue services

- Equipment operation and maintenance
- Fire station duties
All duties are performed in line with national legislation and municipal safety standards.

Once training and minimum qualifications are achieved, you will be expected to:
Firefighting & Emergency Response
- Participate in firefighting operations under supervision
- Respond to emergency incidents to minimise loss of life and property
- Support rescue operations during accidents and disasters
Emergency Preparedness & Fire Prevention
- Assist in preparing for emergency incidents
- Participate in public education and fire prevention initiatives
- Promote safety awareness in communities
Equipment & Vehicle Readiness
- Ensure firefighting equipment and vehicles are clean, safe, and operational
- Maintain a hygienic and safe working environment at fire stations
Administrative Duties
- Perform basic administrative and record-keeping tasks
- Assist with operational reports where required
Performance Management
- Participate in the municipality’s Performance Management and Development System
