SAFCOL Learnership Programme for Unemployed Youth 2026

 

 

The South African Forestry Company SOC Limited (SAFCOL) invites suitably qualified unemployed South African Youth to apply for their Learnership Programme for 2026. The closing date for applications is the 14th November 2025.

About SAFCOL

SAFCOL is a state-owned enterprise responsible for the management of commercial forestry assets on behalf of the South African government. The organisation operates in multiple provinces and plays a critical role in the forestry value chain — from plantation management to sawmilling and timber processing. Through its learnership initiatives, SAFCOL aims to empower young South Africans with the skills needed to build successful careers in the forestry industry.

The following Learnership Programmes are available:

  1. Mechanised harvesting (NQF level 3)
  2. Forestry silviculture (NQF level 3)
  3. General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) in Foresty (NQF Level 1)

These Learnership Programmes are aimed at developing foundational skills and career opportunities and or/ set up own Small, Micro and Medium Enterprise (SMME) within the Forestry Sector. The programme will consist of the following:

  • Accredited theory in Forestry at NQF Level 3
  • Practical training

Interested individuals must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • unemployed age between 18 – 35
  • Successfully passed matric (Grade 12)
  • Passionate in Forestry environment and must be able to work outdoors

Applicants must complete the SAFCOL Learnership Application form, attached with the following relevant certified personal documents copies in confidence.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Matric Certificate/ Statement of Results
  • Identity Document (ID)

For Mechanised harvesting (NQF level 3) applications must be emailed to: mechharvlearner@safcol.co.za

For Forestry silviculture (NQF level 3) applications must be emailed to: Silviculturelearnership@safcol.co.za

For General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) in Foresty (NQF Level 1) applications must be emailed to: getclearnership@safcol.co.za

The appointed Learners will be based at the official SAFCOL Training Centre (Platorand) situated at Sabie, Mpumalanga Province and will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the Learnership period. Upon completion of the Learnership Programme, Learners will receive the NQF Level (1 – 3) Certificates.

Programme Benefits

Participants in the SAFCOL Learnership Programme will receive:
