Requirements

Grade 12 equivalent or higher qualification (NQF 4); A minimum of 1-year relevant experience.
Competencies: Knowledge of the following: History, purpose and functions of museums in society, including their potential for
national building and tourism development; Museum ethics; Current primary, secondary and field history research techniques of selection, evaluation and
exhibition of objects of material culture or the presentation of living history; Collections management (information management) and preventive
conservation; Education methodology in museums; Project planning and management, including financial management; Legislation, policy and
regulations relating to sector; Government-driven service improvement initiatives such as “Batho Pele. Skills in the following: Numeracy; Literacy;
Computer Literacy; Language skills.
Ability in the following: Motivate own ideas and approaches; Breakdown problems into manageable parts and identify
solutions; Listen well and be receptive to the ideas of others; Manage conflict; Communicate (verbally or in writing) with ease and confidence.

Duties

Assistance with the administration of the museum and related activities; Facilitate, present and implement public programmes and maintain public
relations; Facilitate, present and implement educational and outreach programmes; Engage in research and implement exhibitions; Assist with the
promotion and marketing of the museum.
