About this opportunity
New Venture Creation – NQF Levels 2 & 4
The New Venture Creation programme is designed to meet the needs of learners who are either aspiring entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, or existing small business owners seeking to establish, manage, grow, and sustain viable business ventures within the South African economy.
The qualification equips learners with practical entrepreneurial, financial, operational, and leadership skills required to identify opportunities, respond to market needs, and operate a new venture in a structured and sustainable manner. It supports economic participation, job creation, and enterprise development across multiple sectors.
At NQF Level 2, the programme provides foundational entrepreneurial knowledge, focusing on basic business concepts, opportunity identification, customer engagement, and simple financial management. Learners gain an introduction to how new ventures operate and develop the confidence to participate meaningfully in small business activities or proceed to further learning.
At NQF Level 4, the programme builds on this foundation by developing applied business management and entrepreneurial leadership competencies. Learners are equipped to independently plan, implement, manage, and grow a small business. Emphasis is placed on business planning, financial control, marketing strategies, people management, and operational decision-making in a competitive environment.
The qualification is aimed at improving entrepreneurial capability, productivity, and sustainability by enabling learners to apply innovative thinking, manage risk, and respond effectively to economic and market challenges. It supports individuals who wish to start new enterprises, formalise existing businesses, or manage entrepreneurial initiatives within broader organisational contexts.
