The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) members recently voted to end their affiliation with KwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA) and, by extension, ASA. The vote was decisive, with members choosing independence ahead of the race's 100th running in 2027. The dispute centres on governance, commercial rights, and how much control ASA and KZNA should have over the event
